Fast Forward 230+ years:
Today, the 2nd Amendment has become worthy of murder to protect, and yet, at the same time, those who try to use their FIRST Amendments rights, (you know, freedom of speech, Freedom of Expression, Freedom of religion, etc) are threatened with THEIR LIFE!!!!
So, it is OK to carry a gun around, scare the crap out of people, and take away people's ability to feel safe and pursue their own happiness; But it is NOT OK for someone to speak how they feel on a subject? How stupid is that?
It is OK to threaten people with guns, leave your guns lying around where small children can find them, and have gun ranges in your backyard where a stray may hit a neighbor, BUT, if someone is not of the same religion as you, YOU have a right to threaten to kill or rape them? It is OK for a neighborhood watch member to violate the very rules of the neighborhood watch and shoot an unarmed teenager, BUT, let someone piss you off, and you think it is OK to shoot them, without a trial?
It is OK for you to leave your gun out where a small child finds it and kills another person, and you don't think you should even be taken to the police station, BUT, it is OK to demand the firing, arrest and execution of a police officer based on a 10 second video that provides no evidence of what lead up to that moment?
Since WHEN did the SCOTUS rule that the 2nd Amendment overruled all other Constitutional Rights? I finished college in Dec. 2004, with a degree in Political Science. At that point, I know for a fact, there had been no such judgement.
If my right to my own opinion, and my right to speak my opinion becomes LESS IMPORTANT than your right to carry a stupid gun, SOMETHING has gone wrong in AMERICA!!!
AND BTW, last I heard, even SCOTUS ruled that there CAN be regulation of guns. They have NEVER ruled that I cannot have my own thoughts, or that I cannot speak about how I feel. As long as I do not violate your Constitutional Rights, and I do not break the law, you have no RIGHT to threaten me, or anyone else, just because you don't like what they have to say.
It is TIME for America to REMEMBER THE FIRST Amendment. And that includes rights to Free Speech, Freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, AND that the government is not in the religion business. You pray your way, and leave others to do the same. You know WHY?????? Because religion is SPEECH, EXPRESSION, AND ASSEMBLY!!!!!!!
